Abdominal Wall Repair
Ventral hernia is a common pathology that can be disabling for those who suffer from it, limiting exercise and activities of daily living.
A ventral hernia is a defect in the abdominal wall that allows intra-abdominal contents to escape through these holes. There may be inguinal, umbilical, paraumbilical, epigastric hernias, etc. It is also common to find them in places where there has been previous abdominal surgery, becoming complex defects. Its treatment is through the placement of a biocompatible mesh to occlude the defect. The best approach is laparoscopic or minimally invasive, since it allows the correction of these hernias through very small and aesthetically acceptable ports, in addition to minimal downtime and disability.
Techniques:
- TEP laparoscopic inguinal hernioplasty
- Laparoscopic ventral hernioplasty
