Pilonidal Sinus and Hidradenitis

The pilonidal sinus is the formation of multiple tracts under the skin produced by the introduction of hairs that produce chronic inflammation that leads to the appearance of abscesses and suppuration. Although this disease is more common in young men, it can also affect women and men of any age.

Hidradenitis, on the other hand, is due to the formation of chronic inflammation in areas of the skin where there are sweat glands associated with the hair complex. This inflammation produces intense fibrosis that can be very disabling and lead to repeated skin infections.
